A young New York City couple chose this 7,500 square foot colonial farmhouse in New Canaan, Connecticut as their new home with the intention of creating a living space that could grow and adapt with their expanding family. By mixing antiques passed down from their families with custom designed furniture and new everyday pieces, we were able to create elegant but comfortable rooms where they could not only entertain large gatherings but where their children could also play freely. The client’s love of color was incorporated throughout the design of the house – from the apple green striéd walls in the entry hall, the red painted shelves in the family room to the denim blue toile in the master bedroom. This project began as a collaboration with designer Tom Fleming.
