This sitting room, in a sprawling seven bedroom house in Purchase, New York, is located off the master bedroom and leads into a large walk-in closet. The client, a wife and mother, wanted a sanctuary all her own – ideal for reading or relaxing. Envisioning a room with a bit of drama and Hollywood glamour, we decided on a range of rich purples and lush textures. A custom oversized tufted loveseat to be upholstered in deep aubergine colored velvet and a custom Louis XV style cast bronze coffee table with an antiqued mirror inset will anchor the room. Incorporating the client’s love of exotic animal prints was essential — an alpaca hide rug, shagreen side tables, fluffy sheepskin stools. We also chose some exciting geometric pieces, a spiky, sea urchin-like chandelier and an angular shelf to maximize storage space.
